Diamond nine is a discussion activity that can be used with children and adults of all ages.

By discussing in small groups people can realise what values they think are important, and also see that other people have different values.

Working in pairs or small groups, students get a set of nine statements that relate to current learning (we have prodivded 12 cards from which you can choose the 9 which are most apporpriate for your pupils).

In this diamond nine, the pupils must consider which uses of genetic modification they are most happy with, and which they are least happy with.

They have to prioritise the statements into a diamond nine, ranking them in importance:

1 is the use they consider they are most happy with.

5 is the use they consider they are least happy with.
